Introducing the IEEE VIS 2017 Arts Program
The IEEE VIS 2017 Arts Program, or VISAP’17, showcases innovative artwork and research that explores the exciting and increasingly prominent intersections between art, design, and visualization. Through a dedicated papers track and an exhibition that runs concurrently with the IEEE VIS 2017 conference, the Arts Program aims to foster new thinking, discussion, and collaboration between artists, designers, technologists, visualization scientists, and others working at the intersection of these fields. Submissions to VISAP’17 are due on June 23rd; the theme for the Call for Entries this year is Sustain & Decay.
VISAP’17 runs for one week from October 1st through October 6th during the IEEE VIS 2017 conference in Phoenix, Arizona. Both the exhibited works and the accepted papers are selected through a rigorous peer review process. Submissions are evaluated on quality and relevance to the IEEE VIS community by a program committee made up of experts in visualization, media arts, and design. In 2016, the acceptance rate for the exhibition was 22% and the acceptance rate for papers was 29.41%; we expect it to be similarly competitive for the 2017 program.
